For the last number of years we have collected cans, dried food, baby products and at Christmas time shoe boxes for the Heart to Hand charity. The Registered Charity called “Heart to Hand” was set up to care for the poorest of the poor, many of whom are in orphanages in Countries like Albania, Bosnia, Moldova, Romania and other countries where the need arises.

This care consists of providing food, medicine, clothes and other forms of humanitarian aid, in latter years education and training to help these people fend for themselves has been put in motion. This charity is non-denominational, voluntary and therefore what comes in goes out to help the poorest of the poor.

Without the help and generosity of the Irish people they could not survive.

This year, having spoken to representatives from Heart to Hand we have decided not to do the shoe box appeal and just concentrate on the food appeal.  Due to the worldwide economic downturn the countries listed above are now in dire need of food.  Even people lucky enough to have jobs have had their wages cut and some workers are not earning enough to survive on.  If however, you wish to donate a shoe box we will accept it but we are urging everyone to donate food.

The following is a list of just some of the food items we will accept: cans e.g. meat, fish, fruit (no beans or peas as they have a sufficient amount of these), pasta, rice, baby food, dried food etc.  We will also accept nappies and hygiene products.

If you wish to donate a small toy with the food please feel free to do so.
